The countdown to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 begins with all 10 teams revealing their retained and released player lists, setting the stage for the upcoming auction on December 19 in Dubai.

While some teams, like Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans, are sticking to their winning formula, keeping the core strong. On the other hand, there are teams going for broke, releasing players left and right to hit the IPL 2024 auction with deep pockets.

Royal Challengers Bangalore, on a quest for their maiden IPL trophy after 16 seasons, have bid farewell to 11 players, among them heavyweights like Josh, Hazlewood, Harshal Patel, and Wanindu Hasaranga. Their purse has skyrocketed to INR 40.75 Crore—the fattest wallet as they head into the IPL 2024 auction.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad has trimmed their roster, releasing six players, with the notable exit of last year's high-profile acquisition, Harry Brook. Cutting ties with these six players means the Hyderabad-based franchise has got a sweet INR 34 Crore added to their wallet heading into the mini-auction.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders are in full reformation mode under the watchful eyes of their new mentor Gautam Gambhir, showing the exit to 12 players as they gear up for the IPL 2024 auction. The two-time champions will be heading into the auction with a purse of INR 32.75 Crore.
