The India Women vs Australia Women 3rd ODI, also the series decider, is set to take place on September 20 from 1:30 PM IST. Ahead of the clash, BCCI Women shared an exclusive video on their official social media handle, showing the Indian players unveiling a special pink jersey.

The kit, designed by Adidas, features the Indian team’s logo and a white chest banner carrying the message “Thanks a Dot.” While retaining all the traditional elements of the national jersey, the pink design adds a symbolic touch that goes beyond cricket. The jersey will be worn by the Indian women’s team during the match.

Message Behind the Pink Jersey

The video released by BCCI Women featured Harmanpreet Kaur, Sneh Rana and Pratika Rawal, who shared the deeper significance of the initiative.

“This pink jersey is a reminder of a bigger part. It is more than just a symbol. Every day we train for uncertainties, and this pink jersey is a reminder for you to be prepared against breast cancer. It’s a call to build a life-saving habit. Let’s make breast self-examination a monthly routine. Together, let’s fight against breast cancer and give ourselves a hug of life,” they said in the video.

While the players promoted the campaign with passion, it reflects a harsh reality. Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women in India. An annual report tabled in the Lok Sabha revealed a sharp rise in cases, increasing from 2 lakh in 2019 to 2.21 lakh in 2023.

The initiative is part of a partnership between BCCI Women and SBI Life Insurance to raise awareness about breast cancer. By sporting pink jerseys in a high-profile game, the Indian women’s team is not only aiming to win the decider but also lending their platform to a social cause of urgent importance.
