After much buzz surrounding the India-Pakistan "No Handshake" controversy, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav made headlines for a different reason after the concluding Asia Cup group-stage match against Oman.

Once the game ended, Yadav walked onto the field, warmly greeting the Oman players with a broad smile, engaging in friendly conversations, and clicking pictures with the entire squad. His gesture stood out in contrast to the tense atmosphere that followed the earlier clash with Pakistan.

India Didn't Sail Smooth Against Oman

The match itself was largely one-sided, as India dominated from the start. Oman lost the toss and was sent to the field first on a challenging surface. The Indian batting order, though aggressive, did not enjoy smooth sailing as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Despite that, India managed to post a strong total of 188 runs on the board, although eight wickets had fallen before the innings closed.

Suryakumar Yadav decided not to bat against Oman and sat out on the sidelines, a move fans and netizens interpreted as underestimating the opposition. Nevertheless, India’s innings found momentum through solid contributions from Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, both of whom stood tall with the bat. Shubman Gill, on the other hand, was left disappointed after managing only five runs.

After the final ball was bowled, the focus quickly shifted from India’s dominant win to Yadav’s sportsmanlike gesture. His decision to spend time with the Oman squad, sharing light moments and photographs, highlighted a softer, respectful side of the Indian captain, shunning every 'disrespect' remark.

This moment also offered a sharp contrast to the earlier India-Pakistan encounter, where Yadav and Shivam Dube had walked off without shaking hands and had shut the dressing-room doors to prevent interaction.

With Oman officially eliminated, India marched into the Super 4 with three wins from three games. Their much-anticipated next match is against Pakistan on September 21 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
