Rohit Sharma's habit of forgetting [Source: @kochi_kamath/Instagram.com]
Well, to err is human, but when it comes to forgetting things at the toss, Rohit Sharma has made it almost his trademark. The Indian ODI captain has often left fans and broadcasters amused by blanking out on crucial details, from team changes to even his own decision after winning the toss.
On Friday, after toss with Oman for the concluding group stage match in Asia Cup 2025, Suryakumar Yadav hilariously admitted he too forgot the team changes during the toss, joking that he was “becoming like Rohit.” But while SKY’s slip brought a smile, it also reminded fans of Rohit’s long list of light-hearted forgetful moments over the years.
All Instances Of Rohit Sharma's Brain-Fade Moment
Take, for instance, the second ODI against New Zealand back in 2023. After winning the toss, Rohit paused for a good ten seconds, clearly unsure of what he wanted to do. Eventually, he admitted, “I forgot what we wanted to do, had plenty of discussions with the team… but we will bowl first.” The clip went instantly viral, capturing Rohit’s easygoing personality.
Another hilarious instance came during the 2024 T20 World Cup clash against Pakistan. When Ravi Shastri asked him to bring out the coin for the toss, Rohit fumbled through his pockets only to realize he had left it behind altogether. The broadcasters had a field day replaying the moment.
Even earlier, during the 2013 Champions League, Rohit Sharma, then leading Mumbai Indians, forgot the team changes right after announcing his decision to bat first. Asked by Anil Kumble about the changes, he sheepishly blurted out the wrong names.
And it’s not just toss-related. Rohit’s teammates and coaches often recall how he once left behind his phone and iPad on a flight, and former batting coach Vikram Rathour even joked that Rohit sometimes “forgets how to bat or bowl.”
Rohit's Legacy Is Beyond "Forgetting"
Yet, behind the laughs and memes, Rohit Sharma remains one of India’s greatest ever captains and batters. Since his international debut in 2007, the Mumbai stalwart has racked up 11,168 ODI runs in 273 matches, cementing his place among the modern greats.
Rohit may forget toss decisions or team combinations, but he rarely forgets how to win games. As he gears up for India’s upcoming ODI series against Australia from October 19 to 25, fans will be eager to see his bat do the talking.
