In a significant development, the Allahabad High Court (HC) on Tuesday granted interim relief to Indian cricketer Yash Dayal by staying his arrest in a sexual exploitation case filed against him in Ghaziabad. The stay order comes after Dayal approached the court seeking question of the FIR lodged by a woman who accused him of exploiting her over a five-year period under the false pretext of marriage.

A division bench of Justice Siddhartha Varma and Justice Anil Kumar made notable oral observations during the hearing, casting doubt on the complainant's claim of prolonged deception. “You could have been fooled for 1 day, 2 days, 3 days… but 5 years? One can't be fooled for five years,” the bench observed, according to Live Law.

FIR Alleges Prolonged Abuse, False Promises

The FIR, registered on July 6 at Indirapuram Police Station in Ghaziabad under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), was filed after the woman submitted a complaint through the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s online grievance portal on June 21.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that she was in a five-year relationship with the 27-year-old pacer, who currently plays for RCB in the IPL. She claimed that Dayal misled her with repeated assurances of marriage and introduced her to his family as his future wife, which deepened her trust in him.

According to the FIR, she was emotionally, physically, and mentally exploited during this time. "When I confronted him and realized the deception, he subjected me to physical violence and mental harassment," the woman stated. She also alleged that the stress of the relationship pushed her into depression, and she had attempted suicide multiple times due to emotional trauma.

Dayal Denies Allegations, Files Counter-Complaint

In response, Yash Dayal has strongly denied the allegations. The cricketer has filed a counter-complaint with the Prayagraj police, accusing the woman of theft and deception. He claimed that the woman stole his iPhone and laptop and borrowed money under false deception.

Yash Dayal stated he has digital and documentary evidence to support his version and insisted that the complaint against him is baseless and driven by false motives.
