In a surprising turn of events, all-rounder Shadab Khan and opening batter Imam-Ul-Haq are likely to make it back into the Pakistan team for the Champions Trophy 2025. These two players have been absent from the national team for months as a result of inconsistent performance.

Last month, the PCB had agreed on a hybrid model; therefore, India will be playing its matches at a neutral venue in Dubai for the Champions Trophy 2025.

Pakistan to recall Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman for Champions Trophy

Shadab Khan was missing from the squad since T20 World Cup 2024 and is coming from a phase where his performance is inconsistent. Yet, he came good in domestic cricket and managed 120 runs along with five wickets in Champions One-Day Cup.

Imam-Ul-Haq, on the other hand, last played for Pakistan during the 2023 World Cup. Since then, he has made a strong case for his return by amassing 212 runs in four games in the Champions One-Day Cup, averaging 53. As a solid opener with significant experience, Imam is also on the radar.

India-Pakistan to face off in Champions Trophy at Dubai

In the wake of a fierce stalemate, PCB accepted a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy 2025, in which team India could play all its matches on neutral venues. After that, ICC released the schedule for the tournament, and it was declared that the much-anticipated India-Pakistan match would be held on February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Interestingly, the venue will shift to Dubai if India reaches the final because the men in blue are firm on not traveling to Pakistan, citing security reasons.
