Rishabh Pant’s journey from enduring a life-threatening car accident to battling some of the world’s most fearsome bowlers has been nothing short of inspirational. In December 2022, Pant met with a horrific mishap while driving to his hometown Roorkee. The car crash left him with multiple injuries, and it took nearly 15 months for him to fully recover and make a comeback.

The Indian cricket team’s tour to Australia has always been challenging, and this time was no different. Rishabh Pant faced relentless pace from Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland. The Australian bowlers, especially Starc, unleashed a barrage of short-pitched deliveries, testing Pant’s resilience and courage at the crease.

India had a disastrous start to their innings, losing their top order early. The dismissals of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul left the team struggling at 72/4. Once again, the responsibility fell on Pant to hold the fort and bring stability to the innings.

Starc immediately walked up to check on Pant and apologise. The physios rushed to the field to ensure Pant was okay, and drinks were called as a brief pause ensued. But Pant’s troubles didn’t end there.

Later in the 35th over, Starc bowled a short-of-length delivery that hit Pant on his arm, sparking another injury scare. The impact caused immediate bruising, with his hand turning black due to blood clotting. Despite the pain, Pant continued to bat, determined to contribute to the team’s score.

Pant’s bravery didn’t go unnoticed. Fans on Twitter went into a frenzy, praising the 26-year-old wicketkeeper-batter for his fighting spirit. The fact that he came back stronger after a near-fatal accident and faced lethal bowling with such courage earned him immense respect from cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

Pant’s accident in December 2022 was a life-altering event. He was traveling from Delhi to Roorkee to reunite with his family when the crash occurred. Just days before the incident, he had played a crucial role in India’s victory against Bangladesh in the Mirpur Test.
