In a significant development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a full ticket refund for two Champions Trophy 2025 matches that were abandoned without a ball being bowled at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. It is important to mention that Australia vs South Africa (February 25) and Bangladesh vs Pakistan (February 27) are the two matches on the list.
As per the PCB Ticket Refund Policy, fans are eligible for a full refund if the match was abandoned before the toss. However, ticket holders for hospitality areas (boxes and PCB gallery) will not be eligible for a refund.
How Can Fans Claim Their Refund For Abandoned Matches?
In the PCB Ticket Refund Policy, it is mentioned that eligible ticket holders can claim their refunds at select TCS outlets between Monday, March 10, 2025, and Friday, March 14, 2025. It was also stated that the documents required for refund is: Original and undamaged ticket as proof of purchase, the purchaser must visit the TCS outlet personally.
Poor Preparation Proves Costly For PCB
While the refund announcement is a positive step, questions have been raised about Pakistan’s inadequate preparation for rain-affected matches. Hosting its first ICC event in 29 years, the PCB invested heavily in stadium renovations but failed to implement effective drainage systems.
As a result, crucial matches were abandoned, leaving fans disappointed and raising concerns over Pakistan’s ability to host major tournaments. With the Champions Trophy moving towards its knockout stages, PCB’s handling of venue infrastructure remains a hot topic of discussion.
