Pakistan’s Champions Trophy 2025 campaign has ended in utter heartbreak and former captain Moin Khan isn’t holding back. He has blasted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their lack of merit-based selections and has demanded a complete overhaul of the national team.

Moin Khan Has Called For Major Changes In Pakistan Cricket

The former wicketkeeper has made it loud and clear: if Pakistan wants to start winning again, they need fresh faces, hard work and accountability at the top.

Speaking to the media in Karachi, Moin Khan was as blunt as ever, stating: “The team that works hard is the one that wins.”

He pointed fingers at poor selection policies, favouritism and an overall lack of effort as key reasons behind Pakistan’s flop show in the Champions Trophy.

Pakistan Cricket Needs Surgery, But Will It Happen?

Moin Khan reminded everyone that after Pakistan’s T20 World Cup failure, PCB officials spoke about “surgery” in the team, but nothing actually changed.

“At that time, surgery didn’t happen either. We need to make tough decisions now,” he said.

He slammed the selection process where underperforming players continue to get chances while deserving talent is ignored. He accused the board of being filled with non-technical people who know nothing about cricket, stating that ex-cricketers should be running the show, not those with personal interests.

And that wasn’t all. He even took a shot at how decisions in Pakistan cricket are made backward, saying:

“Decisions are made first, and then the job advertisements come out. The PCB chairman is nominated, and the governing board elects the nominated chairman.”

With Pakistan cricket in free fall, Moin Khan went onto urge Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar to step in and fix things.

'Babar Azam Must Evolve Like Virat Kohli': Moin Khan

Moin Khan didn’t spare Pakistan’s biggest batting star either. While he acknowledged Babar Azam’s talent, he urged him to change his approach and mindset if he wants to reach the next level.

“Babar Azam is a good player, but he needs to transform himself. He should evolve like Virat Kohli has,” he said, suggesting that Babar needs to be more professional

Moin Khan believes that senior players who have failed to deliver must step aside and allow new talent to step up and take charge.

“The team now needs new blood,” he said.

The Champions Trophy failure has exposed Pakistan cricket’s same old problems, and if changes aren’t made soon, Pakistan could keep falling behind in world cricket.
