Lungi Ngidi’s Incredible Milestone
Cricket fans across the globe are witnessing another thrilling match of the Champions Trophy as South Africa and England are facing each other in an unmissable cricketing encounter. As the Proteas started the match with immense domination, England's batters are crumbling in front of their bowling attack.
With that domination, South African pacer Lungi Ngidi has unlocked a new milestone of his ODI career. After dismissing England captain Jos Buttler, he secured his 100th ODI wicket and became the 13th South African bowler to secure 100 scalps in the 50-over format.
The pacer came to bowl in the 36th over, and Buttler was on strike. On the third delivery, he cleverly bowled a slower one angling in. The England skipper attempted a drive but got a thick inside edge, sending the ball straight to Keshav Maharaj for a simple catch. With that, he secured the incredible milestone in just 66 matches.
England Crumbles Against The South African Dominance
England's struggles in the tournament continued against South Africa, as their batting woes showed no signs of easing. After opting to bat first, England's batters crumbled against South Africa’s bowling dominance. Phil Salt walked away early, once again scoring only 8 runs. Jamie Smith walked away on a duck.
Amidst the struggle, Ben Duckett scored 24 runs, and Joe Root played a knock of 37 runs in 44 balls. Skipper Jos Buttler added 21, but the rest of the lineup crumbled against South Africa’s fierce bowling attack, wrapping up their innings at just 179 runs.
