Afghanistan’s high-profile Group B match of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy against Australia was halted by rains during the second innings. With Australia going great guns in a chase of 274, rains halted play at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, prompting match officials to call off the players for the time being.

As fans waited for the action to resume, a legion of social media users roasted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for having visibly ‘poor draining systems’ in the stadiums after an ariel view of the venue went viral on X.

Fans troll PCB for poor draining system

In a bid to host an ICC event for the first time in nearly 29 years, the PCB shelled out a fortune to restructure its leading cricket stadiums. However, numerous cricket fans trolled the PCB for not establishing proper draining systems at the venues, after an ariel view of Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium went viral on social media.

The post in contention features the rain-soaked Gaddafi Stadium in extremely unfavorable condition to host the rest of Afghanistan’s Group B match of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy against Australia. While several fans roasted the PCB for not establishing proper systems to minimize the rain-induced damage, others pinned hope that the final should rather be hosted by the tournament’s secondary venue, the Dubai International Stadium.
