Reece Topley Signs Up With MI For ILT20 After Pulling Out From PSL 2024

Reece Topley was expected to feature for Multan Sultans in the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which begins in a few day's time. But, the 29-year-old has pulled out of the tournament and will now be seen in the knockouts of the International League T20 (ILT20).

Reports earlier suggested that the English pacer pulled out of the PSL because of an injury but with him all set to feature for the MI Emirates in the ILT20 knockouts, it seems the injury was never really the cause of concern.

The 29-year-old didn't receive NOC from the England Cricket Board to travel to Pakistan and featured in their tournament. He was expected to be out for a while and there were speculations about his availability in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) where Royal Challengers Bangalore had decided to retain his services despite him being injury-prone.

RCB decided to bet on him despite his long history of injuries and as things stand he should be available for the marquee tournament that will be held in the near future.

The fact that the England international didn't get NOC to participate in Pakistan's league and within the next 24 hours he signed for MI Emirates (sister franchise of Mumbai Indians) to feature in the ILT20 knockouts raises questions and concerns within the Pakistan cricket community.

These developments with regard to Topley shed light on broader concerns surrounding international player participation and cast doubt on perceptions of safety and the feasibility of hosting cricket events in Pakistan.
