Former South African cricketer Dale Steyn has once again expressed his admiration for MS Dhoni. A fearsome speedster during his playing days, Steyn described himself a ‘huge admirer’ of Dhoni and claimed that he always wanted to be a part of the CSK franchise in IPL.

Moreover, the 41-year-old even stated that he was willing to take a pay cut just to be a part of the CSK environment.

While discussing about IPL 2025 retentions on the Pdoggspeaks YouTube channel, Dale Steyn expressed his admirations for MS Dhoni and stated that he always wanted to join the CSK franchise in some capacity in the IPL. The legendary South African paceman added that he was also willing to sit on the CSK bench just to be a part of the ‘Yellow Brigade’.

Back in late 2023, Dale Steyn admitted that he always wanted to experience the captaincy of MS Dhoni in CSK. During the IPL 2024 season earlier this year, the legendary South African paceman stated that he was glued to his TV when Dhoni was batting at the crease.

Dale Steyn himself has played 95 matches for four different franchises spanning 11 different IPL seasons from 2008 till 2021.

A veteran of 93 Tests for South Africa, Steyn collected 439 wickets until he announced his retirement from all forms of the game. The cricketer also harvested 260 additional wickets in ODIs and T20Is combined to claim a career haul of 699 international wickets.

MS Dhoni, on the other hand, relinquished his CSK captaincy earlier this year in favour of rising star Ruturaj Gaikwad. The former Indian captain is set to reprise his role for the franchise in IPL 2025 as an ‘uncapped cricketer’.
