In a startling revelation made on JioCinema, former CSK batter Suresh Raina claimed that he spotted MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant together in Delhi days ahead of the IPL 2025 retention deadline, sparking speculations of a CSK union. Notably, Pant is set to enter mega auction after being released by Delhi Capitals.
Delhi Capitals (DC) were almost certain and confident of retaining wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant at the retention deadline. However, tables turned days before the October 31 deadline as DC chose to release Pant into the upcoming mega auction. Notably, Pant previously hinted at his auction possibility with a cryptic social media post.
Rishabh Pant might be pursued by CSK
That being said, apart from being an excellent wicket-keeper batter, Rishabh Pant is also captaincy material. Hence, several IPL teams are expected to pursue him at the mega auction. Speaking on Pant’s potential landing spots, Suresh Raina made a major revelation.
Talking to JioCinema, Raina revealed that he went to meet CSK star MS Dhoni in Delhi a few days ago, and he spotted Rishabh Pant hanging out with him. With a cheeky smile on his face, Raina suggested that someone will be seen in a yellow jersey soon, indirectly hinting at Pant.
"I met MS Dhoni in Delhi, Pant was also there. Someone will be wearing a yellow jersey soon," Raina said.
CSK have retained captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Matheesha Pathirana, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni. They are left with an INR 55 crores purse and 1 RTM card.
What led to Pant’s exclusion from DC?
According to rumours, Rishabh Pant’s unreasonable demands led to his exclusion from Delhi Capitals’ retention list. Pant apparently wished to continue as captain and also demanded a say in the appointment of coaching staff. While DC ownership were keen to retain Pant, the coaches were against the idea of extending his captaincy tenure, leading to an unexpected fallout. Instead, DC went with Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs, Kuldeep Yadav, and Abhishek Porel.
