Rishabh Pant has shared a cryptic post on his social media account, mere hours after India crashed to a humiliating 25-run defeat to New Zealand at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Team India also lost the first couple of Tests in Bengaluru and Pune to sustain a rare 0-3 series whitewash at home.
Pant punched out sizzling half-centuries in each innings of the Mumbai Test, but a controversial dismissal on Day 3 prevented him from taking Team India past the finishing line.
Pant shares special life lessons after defeat to NZ
On Sunday, November 3, i.e., shortly after India’s 25-run defeat against New Zealand in Mumbai, dashing Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant shared some valuable life lessons on social media through a cryptic post.
The 27-year-old signified the ever-fluctuating nature of life, and urged everyone to embrace the ‘low’ phases of their careers in a bid to prepare for life’s high stages.
As it happened, Team India failed to chase down their 147-run target by getting enveloped for just 121 in 29.1 overs, primarily by New Zealand spinners Ajaz Patel (6-57) and Glenn Phillips (3-42). Remarkably, Rishabh Pant alone accounted for 64 of those runs from just 57 deliveries with nine boundaries and a six, while the rest of the batting line-up accrued just 45 runs together, excluding the extras.
Pant also packed a whirlwind 60 in the first innings of the match to ensure Team India gained a handy lead over New Zealand. Overall, the cricketer finished the series as its highest run-maker, scoring 261 runs from six innings at an average of 43.50 and with a strike rate of nearly 90.
The 27-year-old will now travel to Australia alongside the rest of his national colleagues for the upcoming five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. The first Test of the series will commence from November 22 onwards at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
