Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have announced their retained and released player list for the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) season and they have kept their core group intact while letting go of a few players. RCB retained 14 players, including skipper Smriti Mandhana, and released seven as they gear up to defend their WPL title.
RCB Women has held onto its star lineup, sticking with key players like Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine, Sophie Molineux, and the Indian trio of Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, and Renuka Singh Thakur. Last month, they brought in England’s attacking batter Danni Wyatt through a trade with UP Warriorz for ₹ 30 lakh.
To meet the overseas player limit of six, RCB decided to release England captain Heather Knight and South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk, who came in as a replacement last season. Among the five Indian players released are Simran Bahadur, Shubha Sateesh, and Disha Kasat.
RCB has four spots left to fill in the upcoming mini-auction, with a purse of ₹ 3.25 crore. They’re all set with their overseas slots, so the remaining signings will be Indian players.
RCB has a strong squad locked in, with a few additions expected from the auction next month. Fans can expect another action-packed season as the defending champions prepare to go all out for WPL 2025.
