Prithvi Shaw Fined By Court; List Of Indian Cricketers In Legal Battles

Prithvi Shaw, the 25-year-old Indian cricketer, has been fined 100 rupees by the Mumbai sessions court for his delayed response in the molestation case filed by Sapna Gill. It is a case that started after an incident between Shaw and Gill outside the Andheri Pub in February 2023, and in the last couple of years, both sides have provided their side of the story in public and in court.

The next hearing of the Prithvi Shaw and Sapna Gill case is on December 16, and currently, he is not the only one who is in the middle of a legal battle. Here are some of the other Indian cricketers who are facing legal issues.

Yash Dayal

Yash Dayal, the RCB and Indian pacer who was part of the squad for the South Africa tour in 2024 is currently facing a career-threatening allegation. The cricketer has been accused of rape by a Ghaziabad girl. Since then, an FIR has been filed under section 69 of Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita against the cricketer and was banned from playing in the UP T20 league as well. The matter is currently in the court, and as of now, there is no clarity on what the future holds.

Suresh Raina

The former Indian cricketer, Suresh Raina was recently summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in a money-laundering case. He has been linked to the 1xBet app, a famous betting site. The cricketer is allegedly linked through endorsements to the illegal betting app and has found himself in trouble under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

MS Dhoni

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, one of the greatest Indian captains, is currently fighting a legal battle against Zee Media Corporation. It is a 10-year-old defamation case filed by Dhoni against journalist Sudhir Chaudhary, a retired IPS officer, G. Sampath Kumar and News Nation Network for wrongfully dragging his name in the IPL betting scam.

Now, the Madras High Court has ordered the commencement of the trial in a 10-year-old case and the final hearing on the matter is expected soon.

Nitish Kumar Reddy

Nitish Kumar Reddy, the young Indian all-rounder, also found himself in trouble recently after a talent agency, Square The One, from the national capital filed a case against him in the Delhi High Court.

The cricketer has been accused of breaching the management agreement and non-payment of the dues under section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act. The cricketer has refused to comment on the developments and after series of injuries, the SRH star is now dealing with a legal case as well.
