With the Indian Premier League (IPL) getting popular every year, different countries have also launched their T20 franchise leagues, and each of them has become a household name. Every franchise league follows the same pattern - an auction process to buy players, and every league has that one player who has the honour of being called “the most expensive player.”

Rishabh Pant - most expensive player in IPL

Rishabh Pant, the maverick batter, was released by the Delhi Capitals before the IPL 2025 auction, and it turned out to be a life-changing decision for the India star as Lucknow Super Giants jumped in and smashed the IPL record as they bought Pant for a whopping 27 crores.

Before Pant, in the same auction, Shreyas Iyer was snapped for 26.75 crore, but Pant broke that record on the same day.

It was an expected call that Dewald Brevis would be the most expensive player in the SA20 auction, which took place on Tuesday, September 9. The batter was having a prolific run in 2025 as Pretoria Capitals decided to go all out on him, and they eventually bought him for a huge sum - R 9.2 million (8.30 crore approx).

David Warner - most expensive player in PSL

The most expensive player in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) history was David Warner, who was snapped up by Karachi Kings for $300,000 (2.58 crore approx). PSL aimed to attract glober viewers and Karachi saw this as an opportunity to seal the deal.

Jason Roy - most expensive player in MLC

Unlike the other leagues, the Major League Cricket (MLC) keeps its player salary private, but if reports are to be believed, then Jason Roy, the England star, was earning over $387,000. However, with the league getting huge revenue every year, that barrier is set to be surpassed soon.
