Piyush Chawla, Dinesh Karthik Among 13 Indians To Register For SA20 2026 Auction

Several developments regarding the upcoming edition of SA20 2026 have been announced, and South Africa's premier T20 event is scheduled to take place from December 26 to January 25. On Friday, August 22, Cricket South Africa released the venues for the entire tournament, including the playoffs.

Furthermore, the Season 4 Player Auction will take place on September 9, where the six franchises will finalise their 19-player squads. Notably, the latest report from Outlook India mentioned that 13 Indians have registered for the upcoming season out of the 784 players who will go under the hammer.

Chawla Alongside 12 Others Register For SA20 Auction

The auction will witness the likes of Dinesh Karthik and two-time World Cup winner Piyush Chawla take the centre stage and go under the hammer. Besides the two verterans, here is the fulll list of Indians to register for the upcoming auction.

Siddharth Kaul , Mahesh Ahir , Sarul Kanwar, Anureet Singh Kathuria, Nikhil Jaga, Mohamed Faidh, KS Naveen, Ansari Marouf , Imran Khan, Venkatesh Galipelly , and Atul Yadav are the other Indians in the fray.

Piyush Chawla has the highest base price among Indians at 1,000,000 Rand. All the other Indian players have a base price of 200,000 Rand, except Imran Khan who has been listed with a base value of 500,000 Rand.

Only 84 spots are available to be filled. Notably, out of the 13 players, only Dinesh Karthik has played in SA20. The former India keeper-batter featured for Paarl Royals in the previous edition and scored just 130 runs in 11 innings. 

BCCI Policy Restrict Active Indian Talent To Feature In SA20

Notably, the 13 Indians who have registered for SA20 2026 auction are all retired and play no part in Indian cricket. As per BCCI's policy, no active Indian cricketer can feature in overseas leagues and a player must bid adieu to the game, change nationality or obtain an NOC from the apex cricket board of India. 

Despite the absence of top Indian talents, the SA 20 has managed to draw nice viewership and are now eyeing to rope in big names in Indian cricket, who retired recently, like Piyush Chawla.
