Lack Of Game Time Behind Retirement

It was a hard decision for the right-arm leg-spinner as the 36-year-old was struggling for game time. Chawla, who made his India debut in 2006, last featured for the Men in Blue in 2012. However, he continued to play the IPL and was an active member of the league till last year, but failed to find any interest in 2025 edition, which prompted his retirement.

Chawla, who made his IPL debut in 2008, was a regular part of the league till 2019, but then went unsold and missed the 2022 edition. Piyush, who featured for four franchises, - PBKS, CSK, MI, and KKR, in his career, had a low phase post 2019 where the teams failed to show interest in him.

The India veteran bounced back in 2023 when he played for Mumbai Indians and featured in 27 games in the last two years of his IPL career.

A Career Full Of Glory For Piyush Chawla

The right-hand leg-spinner will go down in Indian history as one of the finest spinner. Chawla, who was part of India's 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup winning squad, featured for the Men in Blue in 35 matches across formats and took 43 wickets.

Chawla, despite success had a short career and was dropped out of scheme of things in 2012. Nonetheless, he boasts an illustrious IPL career and tasted IPL success just once in his life with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014.
