In a significant development, there are reports that Pakistan are set to include Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq in the squad for the upcoming white-ball tour against South Africa.
According to a report from Cricket Pakistan, PCB will make two inclusions from the current squad featuring against Australia in Australia as Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq are touted to return to the national set-up.
It is worth noting that Pakistan are currently playing against Australia in a multi-white ball format series and then will travel to Zimbabwe. The PCB has released the squads for both series, and neither Fakhar nor Imam are a part of the squad.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will face South Africa in a three-match T20I series starting on December 10. They will then engage in a three-match ODI series from December 17.
Fakhar Zaman Left Out Of Australia Tour After Controversial Tweet
Talking about Fakhar Zaman, he was one of the best performers for Pakistan in ODIs and was even touted to become the next white-ball captain, succeeding Babar Azam. However, he marred into a controversy following a tweet slamming PCB and comparing them with BCCI to extend his support to Babar.
Notably, Zaman was unhappy with PCB's decision to drop Babar from the Test squad vs England, and he opined his views publically on social media that did not go well with the Mohsin Naqvi-led board.
Zaman was issued a show-cause notice and was even removed from the central contract. However, Fakhar's timely apology helped him as there were reports that the PCB has accepted his apology and is considering to include him in the upcoming white-ball series.
Imam-ul-Haq Yet To Play A ODI In 2024
Meanwhile, Imam-ul-Haq last featured in an ODI in October 2023 and has been out of the scheme of things since then. There were reports that the decision to exclude him reportedly stemmed from allegations that he leaked sensitive team information to the media.
Talking about the current situation of Pakistan cricket, the Mohammad Rizwan-led side suffered a two-wickets defeat in the first ODI at the MCG.
