Pakistan cricket has been in flames ever since PCB handed over the white ball captaincy back to Babar Azam just five months after the latter's public resignation.

However, Shaheen Afridi, who feels like a scapegoat in this saga, is apparently furious over the false statement released by PCB on his behalf, in which he made absolutely no contribution.

PCB's newly appointed chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, decided to hand over white-ball captaincy back to Babar Azam, thus sacking Shaheen Afridi as the T20 captain after just five games.

Babar, who relinquished leadership duties after the ODI World Cup debacle last year, gracefully accepted the board's invitation.

However, Shaheen did not take humiliation lightly as he was allegedly kept in the dark and not consulted during decision-making.

Moreover, Afridi disagreed with the reasoning behind workload management, which was cited for his captaincy sacking.

On top of that, PCB released a statement on Afridi's behalf, confirming his complete support for Azam.

However, ESPN Cricinfo claims the statement is bogus, and Shaheen Afridi claims never to have uttered those words.

Moreover, the report states that Shaheen Afridi wanted to make his own statement by holding a press meeting on Sunday at Kakul, where the players are currently participating in a military training camp.

However, as soon as PCB caught wind of it, the board officials rushed to hold an emergency meeting with Afridi to pacify him and convince him against the idea of holding a personal presser.

Shaheen Afridi's furious reaction will damage the board more and raise significant doubts about leadership competency.

Therefore, it's perennial for PCB to calm Afridi down with positive dialogue and avoid further flare up of the already messed matter.
