Pakistan Cricket is back in the spotlight as the national team is still hunting for a permanent head coach since last year's ODI World Cup.

Mohammad Hafeez took on the role for the Australia and New Zealand tours, but he's no longer with the PCB since Mohsin Naqvi took charge.

Meanwhile, the PCB seems eager to bring former Australian cricketer Shane Watson on board as the head coach, and now it's up to him to decide.

PCB sources reveal that Watson requested a substantial annual salary of $2 million, which reportedly the Pakistan Cricket Board has agreed to.

Should he accept the position and step into the role of Pakistan's head coach, it would mark the highest-ever salary paid to a foreign coach in Pakistan cricket history.

However, it's been suggested that Watson remains undecided, given the massive time commitment required in Pakistan alongside his various roles as coach and commentator in other leagues.

"He has a young family in Australia and also has commitments in the USA Major League. So, he is weighing his options as the board wants him to spend maximum time in Pakistan helping them also discover and groom talent at domestic level," the source said.

While Shane Watson lacks previous experience coaching a national team, his performance with the Quetta Gladiators has garnered praise, notably leading the team to their first playoff qualification in five years.
