In a significant development for Pakistan cricket, Mohsin Naqvi, the current Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, has been appointed as the new head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee.

This move follows the recent resignation of Zaka Ashraf from the position of Chairman of the PCB Management Committee and Member Board of Governors.

The interim Prime Minister, who approved Ashraf's resignation, nominated Mohsin Naqvi for the crucial role, emphasizing the need for reforms in Pakistan cricket.

Naqvi, already serving as the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, expressed his commitment to addressing the issues affecting Pakistan cricket. "I will attempt to address the problems impacting Pakistani cricket," he said. We urgently need reforms in cricket."

Sources indicate that Mohsin Naqvi has not only been appointed as the head of the PCB Management Committee but has also been nominated for the PCB Governing Board, taking over from Zaka Ashraf. Naqvi's appointment comes after the Prime Minister's prerogative as the Patron-in-Chief of the PCB.

The decision to hold elections for the PCB within the next two weeks has been announced, marking a crucial step in the ongoing cricket board reshuffle. Naqvi's confirmation of his appointment came swiftly, with the notification expected to be issued soon.

Zaka Ashraf, who led the PCB Management Committee for the past seven months, resigned citing his efforts for the betterment of Pakistan cricket but expressing disappointment over working conditions. Despite his tenure including participation in major tournaments like the Asia Cup and the ICC World Cup 2023, the team faced challenges.
