The IPL 2024 will mark a new era, as Rohit Sharma, the five-time title-winning captain, will no longer don the captain’s hat. In his place, Hardik Pandya will take charge of one of IPL’s most successful franchises when the season begins on March 22.

In a recent conversation with JioCinema, Parthiv Patel, one of Rohit Sharma’s former soldiers at MI, talked about many tales of when they were together in blue colours. Among them, a story about Jasprit Bumrah, India’s most lethal fast bowler across formats, left everyone in awe.

"In IPL 2015, when Bumrah was new to MI & his performance was such that the team wanted to leave him, Rohit Sharma believed in his potential & decided to keep him - from the next IPL season, we saw the result,” Parthiv Patel said on JioCinema.

Bumrah has been with MI since IPL 2013, but could only play four matches in IPL 2015 after conceding 12.26 runs an over. Still, Rohit kept faith in him in the following editions, and the rest became history. Not to forget, he was signed by MI for an INR 10 lakh.

Over the years, Bumrah has played 120 IPL matches for MI, and has picked up 145 wickets at an average of 23.30. A 7.39 economy rate also shows how consistent he has been in the cash-rich league, and how important he has been to MI's success.
