After a drubbing against England in the recent Test series and an overhaul change of management in the Pakistan Cricket Board with chairman Ramiz Raja being sacked, there are now reports coming about a change in the head coach.

The new chairman of Pakistan's cricket body, Najam Sethi has indicated that they might be looking at a foreign coach after the tenure of current head Saqlain Mushtaq comes to an end following the New Zealand series.

In all probability, it would be their 2017 Champions trophy-winning coach Mickey Arthur, who along with then-skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed took the side to the title. The South African was at the helm of things during the years 2016 and 2019 whereas currently, he is managing the English county Derbyshire.

A source well involved with the process informed PTI regarding the matter that is building behind the door.

“Efforts are on to bring back Arthur and some other options are also being looked at and they are all foreigners."

Not just the source but even Sethi himself admitted that bringing in a foreign coach is in discussion citing some perks which he feels would help their cricket.

“We have seen in the past when Mickey Arthur was the coach that a foreigner does not bring excess baggage with him and is willing to make no compromises in team interest.”

Pakistan's next assignment will be against New Zealand in a two-match Test and three-match ODI series beginning 26th December.
