IPL 2023: Ajit Agarkar reveals Phil Salt might only play as a batter for Delhi Capitals

In the recently concluded Indian Premier League 2023 auction, Delhi Capitals acquired England batter Phil Salt for INR 2cr. Although Salt is an experienced white ball player, this is his first ever IPL stint. 

DC assistant coach Ajit Agarkar has revealed the possible role and lineup that the management has set for the English wicketkeeping-batter. Agarkar has revealed that Rishab Pant's presence in the team could very well mean that Salt will only feature as a batter in the lineup. 

Salt has scored a total of 245 runs in just 13 T20I matches for England. One of his most memorable innings being an unbeaten 88 against Pakistan in September. In ODIs, the batter has scored 406 at a brilliant average of 45.11

"Phil Salt is an exciting batter and a wicketkeeper. We have (wicketkeeper-batter) Rishabh Pant as our Captain, but Salt could play as a batter in the side. And Ishant Sharma is a Delhi boy and has a lot of experience. We have seen what he has done throughout his career."
