In a recent announcement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled a comprehensive restructure of its domestic cricket landscape.

Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, alongside COO Salman Naseer and newly appointed cricket affairs advisor Waqar Younis, outlined a vision to elevate Pakistan's domestic cricket to new heights through a series of innovative changes.

"Our current standings - sixth in Tests, fourth in ODIs and seventh in T20Is - do not reflect the true potential and legacy of Pakistan cricket. To restore our rightful place at the top of world cricket, we must innovate and strategically enhance, expand and strengthen our domestic structure. The introduction of the three Champions tournaments is a bold step in this direction. PCB chair Mohsin Naqvi said.

PCB Confirms Three New Competitions In Domestic Cricket

The cornerstone of the revamped structure is the introduction of three new tournaments: the Champions One-Day Cup, the Champions T20 Cup, and the Champions First-Class Cup.

These competitions will be staged alongside the existing National T20 Cup, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (regional first-class tournament), President's Trophy, President's Cup, and the HBL Pakistan Super League 2025.

The revamped domestic season will feature a total of 261 matches scheduled across eight senior tournaments.

This includes a robust first-class program featuring 131 matches spread across three events, 40 one-day matches contested in two tournaments, and a thrilling 97 T20 matches across three competitions.

The five teams - Dolphins, Lions, Panthers, Stallions and Wolves will compete in the Champions One-Day Cup from September 1 to 29, a Champions T20 Cup from December 21 to January 2, and in the Champions Pentagular (first-class cricket) from May 28 to August 5.

The main of this revised domestic cricket structure is to provide player development and create a pathway for young cricketers to excel.
