India's Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma have been rewarded by the ICC by getting the nomination for the Player of the Month for July.

Both the top-order batters had a stellar month, racking up runs against South Africa, followed by runs in the Women's Asia Cup, where India finished as runners up.

Talking about Smriti Mandhana, she started the month with a brilliant ton against South Africa in the one-off Test match. Shen then went onto score 46 and 54* in the T20Is against the same opposition, and carried the form in the Asia Cup.

In 4 matches, she slammed 173 runs, at a strike-rate of 137. Coming to her opening partner, Shafali, too, started the month with a blistering double century against the visiting South African side. Apart from that, Shafali was the second highest run-scorer in the Women's Asia Cup (200) runs, at a strike-rate of more than 140.

The duo is joined by Sri Lanka's inspirational leader, Chamari Athapaththu, who led her side to their first ever Asia Cup win.

The Sri Lankan all-rounder was the leading run-getter in Women's Asia Cup and has been duly rewarded for her performance. She became the first player to slam a century in the Women's Asia Cup, and also scored a match-winning 61 off 43 balls to guide her side to victory.
