The 11th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is all set to take place in 2026, and although many details about the event are still not final, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has shared some exciting news.

Naqvi announced a major prize pool for the teams taking part in the tournament, calling it a way to appreciate their role in helping the PSL grow over the years.

PCB chairman launches big-payout initiative

Naqvi made the announcement on the social media platform X, where he said he was happy about the decision and hoped it would motivate teams even further. According to him, the team that wins PSL 2026 will receive $500,000 (about ₹4.48 crore).

The runner-up will earn $300,000, while another $200,000 will be given to the franchise that does the best work in cricket development. Naqvi encouraged all teams to stay committed to improving Pakistan cricket, saying, “Let’s take Pakistan cricket to new heights.”

In another major update, the PCB has confirmed that the auction for two new PSL teams will take place on January 6, 2026. This marks a big moment in the league’s history, as it prepares to expand from six teams to eight. The last time the PSL added a new team was in 2018, when Multan Sultans joined the league.

The addition of two new franchises is expected to bring more business opportunities, better competition, and greater fan involvement. It will also help the PSL strengthen its presence in different parts of the country.

Several cities are being considered for the new teams, including Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit. Only bidders who meet the technical requirements will be allowed to join the auction.

Those who win the bidding will be able to choose their team’s home city and name from the shortlisted options. The final decision on the shortlisted cities will be made after December 5.

Although rumours suggested that Faisalabad and Gilgit were leading the race, the PCB denied these claims. The board made it clear that the final names will be decided strictly according to the official bidding rules, and only after the auction is completed.
