South Africa squad for India announced [Source: AFP]
Cricket South Africa has officially revealed the teams that will play against India in the upcoming white-ball series. The tour will include three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and five T20 Internationals (T20Is).
For the ODI matches, Temba Bavuma will be the captain of the South African team. For the T20Is, Aiden Markram has been chosen to lead. The announcement was made on Friday.
The schedule begins with the first ODI on 30 November, and all three ODIs will be played between 30 November and 6 December in Ranchi, Raipur and Visakhapatnam. The T20 series will start on 9 December and continue until 19 December across different cities in India. The white-ball series will be held after the two-match Test series between the countries, which ends on 26 November.
Dewald Brevis and Maharaj return to ODI squad
There are some interesting changes in the squad. In the ODI team, Dewald Brevis and Keshav Maharaj are making a return. On the other hand, Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Donovan Ferreira did not make the list this time.
Another fresh change is the inclusion of Rubin Hermann, a batter from North West who recently played his first ODI against Pakistan earlier this month. His performance impressed the selectors enough to keep him in the 50-over squad.
When it comes to the T20Is, fans will be excited to see pacer Anrich Nortje back in action. He has been named in the T20 squad and will play his first match for South Africa since the T20 World Cup final in June 2024 against India in Barbados.
Along with Nortje, David Miller and Kwena Maphaka have also been recalled to the T20I team, strengthening the squad with both experience and young talent.
Overall, South Africa appears to be preparing a balanced mix of seasoned players and fresh faces for the India tour.
