In a significant development, Multan Sultans have recently submitted a set of four proposals to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) aimed at improving the structure, transparency, and professionalism of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

It is important to note that this move has come shortly after franchise owner Ali Tareen made headlines with his sarcastic apology video to the PCB. Now, shifting the focus to reform, Tareen has written a detailed letter to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

In the letter, the franchise owner has outlined four clear points in which PCB can strengthen PSL’s governance system.

Multan Sultans four proposals to PCB

In the letter, Ali Tareen has mentioned the recent ongoing tension between the franchise and the PCB. He has urged that both sides should work together to develop mutual trust and professionalism within the league. The four proposals stated in the letter mainly focus on:

  • Franchise Representation on PSL Committees - Ali Tareen proposed that representatives from every franchise should be included to ensure collective decision-making across scheduling, recruitment, ticketing, marketing, and match-day works.
  • Structured Hiring - The Multan Sultans owner suggested that transparent and merit-based recruitment should be adopted for senior PSL.
  • Professional management framework - He also started that PCB should create and focus on forming an organisational chart that defines departments for operations, marketing, fan engagement, player affairs, and finance. He further elaborated that these departments should be under the guidance of qualified professionals.
  • Regular information-sharing - The last proposal shared by  the Multan Sultans franchise owner is that monthly meetings between franchises and the PCB should be held, so that work is done with a structured agenda, proper communication and coordination.

It is vital to note that Ali Tareen’s focus is on the need for consistency and accountability in PSL operations. He also mentioned that ad hoc decisions and limited management expertise have disturbed the league’s long-term growth and development.
