In a significant development, Pakistan can breathe a huge sigh of relief as its star batter Haider Ali has been cleared of rape charges. Notably, the Manchester Police couldn't gather sufficient evidence against Ali and eventually found him not guilty in the alleged rape case.

What Happened With Haider Ali?

On August 8, Haider Ali, who was a part of the Pakistan Shaheens' squad on their tour of England, was booked for his alleged link to a sexual molestation case, eventually getting arrested by the Greater Manchester Police on Sunday, August 3.

Notably, the police had received a complaint on Monday, August 4, 2025 for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, 23 July 2025, at a premise in Manchester, involving Haider Ali. ," We have arrested a 24-year-old man," read the police statement.

The police had arrested Haider Ali when he was representing the Pakistan Shaheens in a One-Day game at Beckenham. Although he was eventually released on bail, the PCB immediately handed him a suspension, until the investigation got over.

Ali was taken into custody at Kent's Spitfire County Ground following a report to Greater Manchester Police alleging the 24-year-old batter had sexually assaulted someone.

Police Fails To Gather Evidence Against Ali

According to Geo Super, Ali is scheduled to be released by the GMP and the UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) due to a lack of evidence after being detained in the UK and given a provisional suspension by the Pakistan Cricket Board.  Up until now, Haider was in UK for the entire process, but he is now free to travel back to Pakistan. Although, the PCB is yet to release an official statement and revoke his suspension.

Talking about Haider Ali's career, he has played 35 T20Is and two ODIs for Pakistan with modest success, amassing 547 runs at an average of 17.64. His last international appearance came back in October 2023, in a T20I against Afghanistan in the Hangzhou Asian Games.
