In a significant development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended young batter Haider Ali after the cricketer was charged with a criminal offence in England. Haider Ali, who was a part of the Pakistan Shaheens' squad on their recent tour of England, was booked for his alleged link to a sexual molestation case.

Haider Ali Provisionally Suspended Amid Investigation

Haider Ali, who was once hailed as the next big thing in Pakistan cricket, finds his career in jeopardy amid the legal battle. The batter embroiled himself in a sexual molestation case, eventually getting arrested by the Greater Manchester Police on Sunday, August 3.

As reported by Cricbuzz, the police nabbed Haider Ali when he was representing the Pakistan Shaheens in a One-Day game at Beckenham.

Although he was eventually released on bail, the PCB immediately handed him a suspension, considering the severity of the charges against him.

However, the cricketing body, in its official statement, stated that it would help the batter present his side of the story by giving him legal support until the issue was resolved.

The suspension is provisional, with its duration depending on the outcome of the ongoing legal proceedings against the player.

"The investigation pertains to an incident that reportedly occurred during the Pakistan Shaheens' recent tour of England. In line with its duty of care and responsibility to ensure the welfare and legal rights of all its players, the PCB has ensured that Haider Ali has received appropriate legal support to protect his rights throughout this process," the PCB stated.
"The PCB fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom and acknowledges the importance of allowing the investigation to run its due course. Accordingly, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under provisional suspension, effective immediately, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation," it added.

Haider Ali has played 35 T20Is and two ODIs for Pakistan with modest success, amassing 547 runs at an average of 17.64. His last international appearance came back in October 2023, in a T20I against Afghanistan in the Hangzhou Asian Games.
