Kamran Akmal trolled [Source: Screenshot/@nikun28/x.com]
As talented as Pakistan's batter, Kamran Akmal was, his work behind the stumps was often criticised as the keeper was known for dropping easy catches and ruining the momentum for the bowlers, and giving away freebies to the opponent batters. This overshadowed his batting skills as Kamran was a special player during his cricketing days.
This long-standing perception about him resurfaced as the Pakistan keeper showed glimpses of his former self (not in a good way), and missed a simple stumping chance against England Champions in the World Championship of Legends.
The mistake which brought back old Kamran Akmal memories
In the opening match of the tournament, Kamran Akmal became the centre of attraction, obviously not in a good way, as he made a mess of a simple chance and gave a lifeline to the England batter. In the sixth over of the English innings, Shoaib Malik spun a ball, and Phil Mustard, the left-handed batter charged down to smack the ball, but he missed.
Kamran had all the time in the world to dislodge the bails, but he failed to collect the ball properly and allowed the batter to get back to his crease.
This incident brought back his old memories as fans on social media ripped him apart and trolled him for missing the simplest of opportunities.
How fans vented out their frustration on Kamran Akmal
"Kamran Akmal doing what he does best!"
"Death, taxes and Akmal dropping catches are three of life's guarantees"
"Felt like I was 14 again watching this somethings never change"
Pakistan register thrilling win over England
The Pakistan Champions registered a thrilling 5-run win over the England Champions at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Pakistan was asked to bat first, and the Asian Giants posted 160/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Former national team captain Mohammad Hafeez scored 54, and Aamer Yamin scored a brisk 27 off 13 to help Pakistan post a decent total.
In reply, Phil Mustard slammed a gritty 58 runs but the knock went in vain as the England side failed to chase down the target and lost the match by the barest of margins.
