In an unfortunate turn of events, the much-awaited encounter between South Africa and West Indies in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) is set to get a delayed start. The all-important toss for the crucial clash has been delayed due to inclement weather conditions at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. 

Rain Delays Toss In WI vs SA WCL Match

Led by AB de Villiers, South Africa Champions were set to collide with their counterparts from the West Indies in the second group-stage match of the ongoing WCL competition. Cricket fans were excited to relive the nostalgic past moments, with star players like AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Hashim Amla taking part in the game. 

However, to the misfortune of the fans, the toss for this match couldn't be conducted in time, with rain playing spoilsport at Edgbaston

As per AccuWeather, the temperature at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham will be around 23 degrees Celsius. The wind is expected to blow in the South-East direction with a speed ranging from 11 to 26 kilometres per hour. 

However, the precipitation chances are as high as 55 per cent in Birmingham this afternoon. More importantly, a yellow warning for thunderstorms has also been issued in the city. 

Therefore, while the toss has already been delayed, it won't be surprising if rain forces the match officials to abandon the fixture between South Africa and West Indies. 

Notably, this is the first match for both West Indies and South Africa Champions in the WCL 2025. The tournament opener witnessed a thrilling face-off between Pakistan and England, which the hosts lost by a narrow margin of five runs.
