In an exciting upcoming contest, West Indies are set to face Uganda at the Province Stadium in Guyana on June 8 as the group stages continue to heat up in this 2024 T20 World Cup.

Notably, West Indies and Uganda have never come face to face before which essentially means the unknown factor could come into play for both sides.

While WI is a much experienced unit when it comes to the T20 format, Uganda cannot be taken lightly at any stage whatsoever.

Having said that, West Indies have a lot of bases to cover after they nearly bottled a low-scoring game against PNG earlier this week. WI had to hustle for 19 overs to chase 137 runs against an inexperienced bowling side.

On the other hand, WI also fell short with the ball as they leaked way too many runs in the death overs.

Hence, ahead of the important game against Uganda, Rovman Powell will be required to make some tweaks into the startling lineup in order to have a more balanced squad.

Firstly, Alzarri Joseph looked out of touch in the tournament opener as he leaked 34 runs in his four overs quota. While Joseph scalped important 2 wickets of set batters, his blowout in the death was a setback for WI.

Hence, for the Uganda game, Powell could give a game to Shamar Joseph who is an exciting prospect. Joseph wreaked havoc amongst the mighty Australian Test side last year when his heroics led West Indies to an infamous win at Gabba.

While his T20 career is still in its early stages, Joseph can make an impact in favourable conditions. The Province Stadium will suit his bowling style, and Uganda will certainly be troubled by Shamar’s extraordinary pace.

Additionally, Powell could consider replacing Sherfane Rutherford with Shimron Hetmyer or Shai Hope, as it will extend the batting depth. Hope can also chip in a few overs with the ball, especially in the middle overs.

The rest of the lineup seems fine. West Indies have a quality squad at their helm and must back their strength to outclass Uganda.
