In one of the most surprising moments of IPL 2024 season, old foes Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir shared a warm hug during RCB-KKR IPL 2024 season and commentators Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar called for an Oscar Award to celebrate the heartwarming moment.
Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir are a few of the most fierce and competitive Indian cricketers to ever exist. Moreover, the duo has an extended history of engaging in multiple verbal spats, some more ugly than others.
The seed of the epic rivalry was sowed in 2013 when Gambhir came charging down toward Kohli after a sledding incident. The feud was perpetuated during the IPL 2023 season when Virat had a heated confrontation with Gambhir over an alleged spat with Naveen Ul Haq.

Hence, with RCB-KKR locking horns earlier today in an IPL 2024 season matchup, all eyes were on RCB’s opener Virat Kohli and KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir.
However, to everyone’s surprise, the old foes buried hatches and shared a warm hug during a strategic timeout in the first innings.
As soon as the visuals of the warm hug went viral, on-air commentators Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar shared their hilarious and epic take on the incident.
Ravi Shastri called for a fair play award to KKR for the heartwarming moment. However, Gavaskar deemed the fair play award not good enough to celebrate the rare exchange.
Instead, Gavaskar called for an Oscar award as the hug wasn’t just a normal exchange between two cricketers but an iconic reunion of two mega nemesis.
That being said, the hug between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir marked the end of a decade-long rivalry, and hopefully, the two fierce individuals will continue to maintain sportsmanship in the future.
