The recently concluded T20 World Cup was a wild success for the 'Men in Blue' as they won the trophy and ended their decades-old drought of an ICC title.

But for the 2023 ODI Champions, Australia, it was a tough tournament as things worsened for them when they lost their match Super 8 match against Afghanistan and failed to head onto the semifinal.

Mitchell Starc Explains His Side After Being Dropped Against  Afghanistan In T20 WC

In a recent interview, on the Willow Talk podcast as quoted by Sydney Morning Herald, Mitchell Starc, one of the greatest in the white-ball format, stated that he was not expecting that he would be dropped from the Super 8 match against Afghanistan.

He also indirectly stated his frustration for being dropped from the team against Rashid Khan-led Afghanistan.

"No – two World Cups in a row. Just the match-up, they saw previous games on that ground in St Vincent with spin playing a part and obviously Ash and the left-armer enticing them to make a change. I think Ash bowled pretty well in the power play. They probably played the spin quite well and batting first probably assessed the conditions a little bit better than we did, and had a couple of stumbles that in the end cost us the game.

He also showcased his anger related to the team's eventual exit from the T20 World Cup before they could reach for the knockouts.

This was not the first time that Speedster was dropped from the team in the match against Afghanistan, he was also not included in the playing XI in 2022 in Adelaide. The result of this was that Australia failed to reach the last four stage.
