Recently, swashbuckling Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal took a surprising career decision, as he left Mumbai's team to represent Goa in the Indian domestic circuit. Considering Jaiswal had a secured future with Mumbai, his decision to leave the most successful domestic team at the initial stage of his career raised a million eyebrows.
Jaiswal States Captaincy As The Reason For Team Swap
Yashasvi Jaiswal himself confirmed the reports, citing that he sought an NOC from the MCA to represent Goa, with the latter team offering him captaincy. So, initially, it seemed that Jaiswal took the call to fulfil his leadership ambitions and throw his hat in the ring amid Rohit Sharma's dwindling future as the Indian skipper.
Fresh Report Claims Jaiswal-Rahane Rift
Meanwhile, according to an India Today report, not captaincy ambitions but his feud with Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane forced Yashasvi Jaiswal to change his base in domestic cricket.
The report stated that Jaiswal felt frustrated after repeatedly being questioned for his commitment during his stint with the Mumbai team. It specifically mentioned an incident during Mumbai's high-profile Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir where Jaiswal allegedly kicked Rahane's kit bag amid his tensed relationship with the leadership group.
When Rahane Sent Jaiswal Off The Ground
It's worth mentioning that this wasn't the first time when Jaiswal had a face-off with Rahane in Mumbai jersey.
During the Duleep Trophy final between West Zone and South Zone, Rahane sent Jaiswal off the field after the latter's repeated verbal altercations with Ravi Teja.
Thus, as the report claims, the clash between Jaiswal and Rahane was one of the primary reasons behind the youngster's switch from Mumbai to Goa, which might affect him adversely in the long run.
