"Aggression Doesn't Mean Tonking Every Ball For Six," Venkatesh Iyer Takes Cheeky Dig At SRH

Kolkata Knight Riders' experienced batter Venkatesh Iyer spoke about the pressure of a whopping price tag while explaining the real meaning of aggression after helping his side secure an emphatic win over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Riding on Iyer's stunning half-century and a clinical collective effort from the bowlers, KKR swatted aside SRH by 80 runs in their fourth IPL 2025 game.

Venkatesh Iyer Explains Real Aggression In Cricketing Terms

The SRH batters have taken T20 batting to a whole new level with their belligerent knocks. However, the ultra-aggressive approach has backfired on the Orange Army, with the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Ishan Kishan being the victims of their own methodology.

Meanwhile, Iyer reckons that aggressive cricket doesn't refer to blind-slogging irrespective of the game situation. As the batter put it, playing according to the needs of the team should be the utmost priority for any batter.

"Aggression does not mean tonking every ball for a sixer. It’s about how you understand the conditions and how you are able to maximise the conditions in your favour. And that is what aggression actually is and that is what we as a team want to play,” Iyer said.

Venkatesh Iyer Not Pressurised By IPL Price Tag

Since Venkatesh Iyer bagged a lucrative deal worth INR 23.75 Crores with KKR, fans speculated his performance would be affected due to the burden of expectations.

However, the KKR star revealed that he was unperturbed by the price tag pressure. In fact, as he claims, his only target is helping his team with impactful performances in the tournament.

"There will be situations where my work will be to play just a few overs. Even if I play those overs and not score much, I would have still worked it out for my team. That does not mean that I am the highest paid player and I need to score runs in every match. It’s about the impact, Iyer stated.

"The pressure is for the fact on how I am winning the match for the team and what impact I can create. I don’t feel pressurised because of the price tag or how much runs I have to make. That’s never been the pressure on me," he added.

KKR Claim Their 2nd Win Of The Season

Under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, KKR secured their second win of the season by defeating SRH last night. They are placed fifth in the IPL 2025 points table and will face LSG in their next match on April 8.
