In a significant development, there are reports that India skipper Rohit Sharma is likely to skip the upcoming England tour in June 2025. According to a report from India Today, the hitman, who is going through a dismal run with the bat, will skip the tour.

The report mentioned that Rohit isn't impressed with his Test form and his underwhelming performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is the reason behind his decision.

Rohit Sharma Likely To Miss England Tour

Following the disaster in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India failed to qualify for the World Test Championship 2025. Further, it is not the first time that Rohit has sacrificed his place for the team, as he also dropped himself from the fifth Test of the BGT and Jasprit Bumrah captained the side.

Further, it is likely that the right-arm seamer might also lead India against the Three Lions. The IndiaToday report also mentioned that Virat Kohli is a certain in the team and has a guaranteed spot in the team, despite his failures in BGT.

"Rohit Sharma is likely to opt out of the Indian cricket team's upcoming Test series against England due to his dismal run of form in red-ball cricket. The report claimed that sources have confirmed that the Indian cricket team captain has already taken the decision," mentioned India Today.

Few Reports Mention That Rohit will Lead The Side

While the news of Rohit missing out on the England tour are floating on the internet, there are also a few reports claiming that the PTI has reported that Rohit Sharma will lead the side against England.

The report added that the squad for the England series would be announced towards the business end of IPL 2025. Thus, the fans would have to wait for a month or two to get an update on the squad.
