In the seventh fixture of the IPL 2025 season, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The clash will be held on March 27 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad starting from 7.30 PM IST.

SRH have made the ideal start to the season, defeating RR by 44 runs after scoring 286 in the first innings. On the other hand, LSG lost a last-over thriller to DC by just one wicket and dropped to sixth position on the points table.

Meanwhile, ahead of the big clash between SRH and LSG, here’s a look at 5 must-watch player battles.

(Abhishek Sharma vs Shardul Thakur in IPL)

  • One of the more one-sided battles in IPL history, Shardul Thakur has managed to keep Abhishek Sharma in check.
  • Across 5 innings, Sharma has scored only 16 runs off 14 balls against Thakur while being dismissed twice. His average of 8.00 and a strike rate of 114.28 indicate his struggles against the experienced pacer.
  • Hence, in the powerplay, Abhishek will have to find a way to counter Shardul’s variations and sharp deliveries with the new ball.

(Ishan Kishan vs Ravi Bishnoi in IPL)

  • Ravi Bishnoi has enjoyed considerable success against explosive wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan. In 7 innings, Kishan has managed just 33 runs off 36 balls, falling prey to Bishnoi 4 times.
  • With an average of 8.25 and a strike rate of 91.66, the numbers indicate that the young leg-spinner has troubled Kishan with his googlies and sharp turns.
  • These two will likely face off in the middle overs, it will be interesting to see whether Kishan can change his approach and improve his record against Bishnoi.

3. Heinrich Klaasen vs Shardul Thakur

  • With a strike rate of 126.66 and an average of 9.50, the numbers suggest that while Klaasen has been aggressive, Thakur has found ways to break through.
  • Klaasen’s job is to explode in the death overs, whereas Thakur aims to press the brakes. Hence, this will be an interesting battle to watch.

4. Rishabh Pant vs Pat Cummins

  • His average of 30.00 and a strike rate of 111.11 indicate that while Cummins hasn’t dominated him, he has managed to keep Pant from going full throttle.
  • With Cummins’ pace and accuracy, and Pant’s fearless hitting, this remains an intriguing battle to watch, especially in the middle and death overs where stakes will be highest for the batter.

5. Rishabh Pant vs Adam Zampa

(Rishabh Pant vs Adam Zampa in IPL)

  • While Pant has shown his ability to take on spinners, Adam Zampa has had some success against him in the IPL.
  • In 3 innings, Rishabh Pant has scored 22 runs off 16 balls, but Zampa has dismissed him twice. Pant’s average of 11.00 suggests that the Australian leg-spinner has found ways to outfox him.
  • However, with a strike rate of 137.50, Pant still managed to attack Zampa when he got the opportunity. The spinner will aim to control the scoring rate in the middle overs and if he manages to tame Pant's aggression, that’s half the battle won for Zampa and SRH.
