Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fans will have to wait a little longer to see one of the most promising pace bowlers in action during IPL 2025. Mayank Yadav, who made waves in the previous season with his sensational pace, will miss at least the first half of the season due to injury setbacks.

Setback In Recovery Delays Mayank Yadav's Return To Action

Initially recovering from a back injury, the pacer now faces a new challenge with a toe injury, which has delayed his return further.

While Yadav was expected to make a comeback by mid-April, it is now likely that he will be available for the "back end" of IPL 2025. The injury-prone fast bowler's journey has been marred by a series of setbacks, with the recent development pushing his return further back.

"Mayank, who everyone was very excited about last year, he was going quite well (coming back from a back injury), and he kicked his toe on the bed," Langer said. "He got an infection in his toe. It's put his rehab back about a week or two weeks. But he's up and running. We regularly see videos of him bowling. I saw a video of his yesterday. So, hopefully by the back end of the tournament, Mayank will be up and ready to go for us."

Can Mayank Yadav Make A Comeback In IPL 2025?

Despite the setback, LSG head coach Justin Langer remains optimistic about Mayank Yadav’s recovery. In a recent statement (according to espncricinfo), Langer expressed hope that the young pacer would be available for the 'back end' of IPL 2025, after missing the initial few weeks of the season.

The news of the delay comes as a blow to the team, especially with the new leadership under Rishabh Pant, who was bought by LSG for a record INR 27 crore at the December mega auction.

However, with the pace bowler's exciting potential and history of bowling speeds over 156 kmph, LSG fans will be hoping that Yadav can make a significant impact in the latter stages of the tournament.
