In an interesting analysis, commentator Aakash Chopra snubbed captain Rohit Sharma to name Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah as India’s pillars of reliability for the T20 World Cup, citing the duo’s consistency in the international scene.

India will officially begin its T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland later today at the New York Stadium. Rohit Sharma and co. have had a good practice game at the same venue, which will help the team make better decisions on the ideal playing XI.

Kohli, Bumrah, India's pillar of strength: Aakash Chopra

That being said, ahead of the high-stake tournament, former cricketer turned analyst Aakash Chopra picked up a dynamic duo who he believes will be India’s strength in the World Cup.

In his latest YouTube video, Aakash Chopra stated that veteran batter Virat Kohli and spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will remain men in blues’ pillars of reliability in the mega ICC event.

"They have Virat Kohli in batting and Jasprit Bumrah in bowling - two absolutely gun players and reliable players over a period of time if we talk about consistency," Chopra said on YT.

Chopra explained that while captain Rohit Sharma along with Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav will also play a key role, Kohli and Bumrah have been consistently delivering in clutch games. Hence, when the pressure is the greatest, this duo never fails to step up, said Chopra.

"Of course, you will also have Rohit Sharma's explosiveness, Hardik Pandya's finishing later and Suryakumar Yadav's incredible shots in the middle, but the two pillars of reliability, who deliver 99.9 percent of the times you expect from them, will be Virat Kohli at the top and Jasprit Bumrah," he added.

Notably, Virat Kohli finished as the highest run-getter in the 2022 T20 World Cup, whereas Jasprit Bumrah missed the event with a knee injury.

Regardless, the duo is coming off a successful IPL season, which has ruled out any concerns of form.
