Pakistan captain Babar Azam has recognized the low-scoring nature of the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup, co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA. While speaking with the press ahead of Pakistan’s opening match against USA, the cricketer claimed that not many players are aware of the playing conditions that awaits them, and teams have been already bundled out for less than 100 runs a couple of times this tournament.

Babar Azam discusses T20 World Cup playing conditions

While speaking with the reporters on June 5, Pakistan captain Babar Azam talked about the low-scoring surfaces of the 2024 T20 World Cup. While he admitted that not many players are acclimatized with the playing conditions in USA, the legendary Pakistani batter did brag about the collective playing experience of key ‘Men in Green’ cricketers like Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf and Imad Wasim on USA pitches.

Interestingly, fast bowler Haris Rauf and all-rounders Shadab and Imad have previously played in USA through last year’s MLC 2023 season.

The Pakistan cricket team will go up against USA in their opening Group A match of the 2024 T20 World Cup on June 6. The much-awaited contest will be staged at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. The venue previously hosted the low-scoring affair between Nepal and Netherlands on June 4.

Under the leadership of Babar Azam, the Pakistan team recently lost their three-match away T20I series against England by a 0-2 margin. They also lost one of the games against Ireland in Dublin last month, after failing to defeat New Zealand at home in April.
