The world remains divided over the recent decision to clear Nepal cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane of the alleged rape of a minor girl. While some have welcomed the verdict, others have criticized the court for declaring him innocent.

The past few days have been emotionally turbulent for the star Nepali cricketer. A recent video from Nepal shows young women cricketers gathering around Lamichhane near the boundary line of a cricket ground.

The aspiring players can be seen meeting, greeting and taking photographs with the spin sensation.

Despite being acquitted of all charges by the Patan High Court, Lamichhane continues to face backlash for the allegations against him.

In 2016, Lamichhane captured the attention of the cricket world with his impressive performance in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. His exceptional leg-spin bowling made him the tournament’s second-highest wicket-taker, highlighting his immense talent and setting the stage for his future in professional cricket.

Previously the team captain, Lamichhane was called to court in a rape case but has now been cleared to play. With his legal issues resolved, the skillful wrist spinner will look to make a strong comeback.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has already announced their preliminary 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean.

With Lamichhane now available, CAN has requested the ICC to add the 23-year-old to the team. The process of officially including Lamichhane in the roster is currently in progress.
