MI, RCB All Punished! List Of Captains Who Have Been Penalised In IPL 2025

The IPL 2025 is now into its business end, and teams are fighting hard to make it to the playoffs. In such a scenario, a slight mistake can prove dangerous for a team, and captains need to be wary of not only the cricketing mistakes, but also about the time they take during their bowling innings.

According to the rules of slow over-rate, captains will get a fine of 25 percent of their match fee and will accumulate demerit points which will stay active for 36 months.  Also, the repeated violations could end in more stringent punishments.  

Many captains in this season, have faced the wrath of this rule, while few of them have not committed that error. Thus, here is the list of captains who have been fined in IPL 2025 for slow over-rate so far.

Riyan Parag (Rajasthan Royals)

Early in the tournament, Riyan Parag led Rajasthan Royals in place of injured Sanju Samson and had to face a fine of 12 Lakhs INR for slow over-rate against Chennai Super Kings.

Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians)

Hardik Pandya missed out in the MI's first game of the season against Chennai Super Kings due to the previous season's over-rate violation. He was then fined 12 Lakhs INR for the slow over-rate against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.

Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants)

LSG skipper got penalised for slow over-rate against Mumbai Indians in their home game. As it was his first offence like the other captains, he was fined 12 Lakhs INR. He then was guilty of slow over-rate in the away game against MI too, and was fined 24 Lakhs. Pant has encountered such problems in the previous seasons too, and he is one of the captains who tend to take lot of time during their bowling innings.

Rajat Patidar (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)

The RCB captain was also fined for slow over-rate against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede. It was also his first instance in this season, and he was fined 12 Lakhs INR.

Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals)

Sanju Samson was the second RR skipper this season to commit a crime of slow over-rate. It happened in the game against Gujarat Titans, and as the second offence for the team, Samson was fined 24 Lakhs. Also, the rest of the squad members were fined either 25 percent of their match fees or 6 Lakh INR.

Axar Patel (Delhi Capitals)

Axar Patel, the new DC skipper was also guilty of slow over-rate in the game against Mumbai Indians which they lost at home and was fined 12 Lakhs INR.

Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans)

Gujarat Titans was penalised for slow over-rate against Delhi Capitals in Ahmedabad. He also had to give away 12 Lakhs of his match fees for that offence.

Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings)

Shreyas Iyer also committed the slow over-rate crime in the game against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai and as a result, he also faced a fine of INR 12 Lakhs.
