Rajasthan Royals' captain Sanju Samson has yet to fully recover from a finger injury he sustained during the England T20Is on home soil. Notably, Samson was hit on his finger while tackling a pacy delivery from ace English speedster Jofra Archer in the high-voltage series.
Samson Recovering At NCA, Likely To Join RR Camp Soon
The stylish Kerala batter recently underwent finger surgery. According to MyKhel, Samson is currently rehabilitating at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Head coach Rahul Dravid has joined the Rajasthan Royals camp, with the likes of Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal having already started training for the IPL 2025.
However, RR skipper Samson is still recovering from the injury, and he will likely join his troops either on Sunday or Monday.
Sanju Samson's Recent Form And Importance For RR
Recently, Sanju Samson replaced former captain Rohit Sharma as India's new T20I opener. Since the management has given him a consistent run, Samson has established himself as a vital cog in India's T20I setup with a string of impactful knocks.
In his last 12 T20I innings, Samson has struck 417 runs, including three scintillating centuries, at a superb average of 37.90. Meanwhile, he has also been the backbone of RR's batting unit, scoring 4419 runs at an average of 30.69 and a strike rate of 138.96.
So, considering his red-hot form and performance over the years, the explosive batter is expected to play a significant role for the Royals.
