The Rajasthan Royals have suffered a huge setback in the quest to reach the playoffs. Their star pacer, Sandeep Sharma has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to a broken finger. He suffered the injury in the last game against Gujarat Titans, and will miss the remainder of the season.

Sandeep Sharma ruled out of IPL

"He showed immense bravery to continue bowling with this injury in the last match and everyone at the franchise wishes him a full and speedy recovery,” a statement from RR read.

Despite suffering an injury in the GT match, Sandeep completed his quota of 4 overs and also took the wicket of Washington Sundar. No replacement has been announced as of yet, but the franchise is working closely on it.

This comes as a massive setback for the franchise who heavily rely on Sandeep's death overs exploits. Generally a fractured finger takes 3-6 weeks to heal, and hence, the team doctors had no choice but to rule him out.

Sandeep's IPL 2025 journey

In the 2025 edition, Sandeep had played 10 matches and took 9 wickets as he had a decent season so far. Compared to last season, he was more expensive, but his experience was still valuable for the team.

Who has replaced Sandeep?

In the match Vs MI, Akash Madhwal finally got a chance as he replaced the injured pacer. The pacer has big shoes to fill in as Sandeep's experience holds utmost value in the team. However, a long-term replacement is yet to be signed by the team.
